Mission
In a spirit of generosity, we provide door-to-door transportation through a network of approved volunteers to medical, social service and essential care appointments, essential shopping, prescription pick up, grocery shopping, religious services or running errands. Persons must be Blind or visually handicapped, live and travel within the area serviced by the agency and have a frailty that prevents their driving. No wheelchair or emergency transportation. Care receiver must be able to get in and out of vehicles unassisted. Clients pay a nominal fee which is adjusted or waived if the volunteer agrees.

- Vision Shuttle and Sanctuary offers a variety of opportunities for you to share your time, talent and energy with people who are challenged with low vision or blindness.
- All volunteers are screened by our staff and must pass a background check.

Did You Know?
Blindness and low vision affects almost every family in America. The latest statistics from the Department of Health and Human Services show there are 4.3 million people in the United States who are blind or severely visually impaired. An additional 50,000 people will go blind this year. 70 percent of the able-bodied blind population are unemployed simply because they do not have adequate access to reliable transportation to be employed. With your help we can supply reliable transportation to blind and visually handicapped people so they can find work and regain there independence.
Vision shuttle and sanctuary offers additional Housing Options:
- For Blind and Visually impaired individuals who are 50 to 75 years of age. if you would like to learn more about the service please contact us.
- Affordable transportation is in short supply in many communities making Vision Shuttle even more important. Local governments are struggling to maintain funding and find necessary resources to meet the needs of Blind and Visually impaired individuals. Lack of funding have resulted in cutbacks in service in many areas. Blind People need transportation to maintain employment, a healthy quality of life and social activities.
